An essay on mountain
houses, this project is inspired by its Colorado setting. The house
is flooded with light, although the main views
are to the north. A hybrid building system of steel, masonry, wood
and glass create spaces that evoke the natural setting without resorting
to traditional forms. In order to minimize the construction scar
and bring the house close to groves of trees, we engaged Dirtworks,
the landscape architecture firm, to plan the access road and help
in siting the house.
