This master plan created a fourteen-acre campus of buildings located
in a park setting that incorporates a series of therapeutic gardens.
The public and private spaces are carefully scaled to provide a comfortable
and convivial environment unexpected in an institutional facility.
The goals for the existing facility included creating a distinctive
and welcoming arrival and drop-off area, increase parking and separate
service and staff traffic from the visitor arrival area. The design
proposed a gracious arrival court and formal garden, a spacious covered
drop-off for weather protection, increased visitor and handicapped
parking and a separate arrival area. Material selections and details
were established to set the standard for all future development.
